Columbia Journalism Review – 2004

This one-page sidebar appeared in the Jan/Feb 2004 issue of CJR within a larger cover story examining at the plight of art in journalism. Ralph Steadman, Hunter S. Thompson’s stalwart sidekick, was commissioned to illustrate the cover—a gory mess of a man cutting off his own head with scissors. Not bad for what some view as a stodgy literary journal! It was very cool to be a part of the issue, and a great learning experience. I interviewed some pretty amazing illustrators including Mirko Ilic, Mark Fiore and David Rees.
